 South Korean officials confirmed that North Korea performed its first nuclear test. The apparent test was conducted at 10:36 a.m. in Hwaderi near Kilju city. China was given a 20-minute warning and in turn told the U.S., Japan and S. Korea. The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a 4.2-magnitude quake in North Korea at 10:35 a.m., 385 kilometers northeast of the capital, Pyongyang
